Frequently Asked Questions

What is an in-home Design Consultation Meeting?

The in-home design consultation meeting is the starting point of all my professional design services. It is a two-hour, in-home, paid consultation. This meeting can be a stand-alone consultation for professional design advice or a preliminary consultation before moving forward with other interior design services.

What is the difference between your two types of consultations?

The first is a stand-alone 'working design session'.  I provide you with professional advice to start your project or make sure it's headed in the right direction. I can make recommendations on furniture layout, styles of furnishings, accessorizing, and ideas for selecting materials such as countertops, backsplash, tiles, and flooring.

At these meetings, I often bring samples from my studio. I do this by reviewing your completed questionnaire ahead of time. That way I better understand your priorities so we make the most of our time together. Sometimes the working design session is all a client needs to continue their projects with confidence.

The second type of consultation is what I think of as an information gathering and research consultation. This meeting is the first step toward further design services. Here I take time to gather detailed information about your needs and wants for your design project with us.  I take photos of your home and review inspirational images so that I better understand your desired outcome.

I will make recommendations on which of my design services will best suit your project and clearly discuss the process for moving forward.  I work with you to achieve your desired look and help you avoid costly mistakes that many homeowners endure during a redesign or custom decorating project.

How do I schedule a design consultation?

Before we meet, we’ll have a complimentary design discovery consult by phone or zoom. It’s is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I look forward to learning about the details of your design project. I want to hear about your style, your desired timeline, and what you most want to achieve. We’ll explore a mutual fit and how I can provide the best solutions to deliver your design dreams.

Do I need to do anything before we meet?

First, we’ll have a complimentary design discovery consult. You can schedule your call by clicking this link. Afterward, I’ll confirm your design consultation date and time and you will receive my questionnaire.

It's important to me to offer great value and to make the most of our time together when we meet. I kindly ask that you complete and return the design questionnaire prior to our meeting. I ask that you collect five or six inspirational pictures that you like.

After the design consultation, do you follow up with any notes or further ideas of what was discussed?

If it’s a stand-alone consultation, I will follow up with a list of recommendations based on what we discussed. This may include rough hand-drawn room layouts or wall vignettes, and other notes for you to refer to. If there is something specific that I mentioned wanting to show you, I may also send some links or photos to further convey my ideas.

If the consultation was a meeting to learn more about your project and gather information with the intent of working with you for further design services, I will follow up with a summary of our meeting and let you know what the next steps are in the interior design process.

What happens if we'd like to book another stand-along meeting at a later date for you to discuss a different project or if we want your professional advice on items we may have chosen for our project that you helped us to jump-start?

We can book another meeting for either of those reasons. I love working with great clients again!
